Let’s face it. Obesity is an epidemic in the United States, and it is taking away our quality of life, our health and our mental wellbeing. We are busy overfeeding and under nourishing our bodies and the consequences are disease and premature deaths.
Type two diabetes has become a huge problem for people in the United States. Approximately 16 million people in the US alone suffer from it, many not even aware of it. It is the seventh largest cause of premature death in the US today!
What Is Diabetes
Diabetes is a condition where the insulin, a natural hormone produced by the body to aid in the digestion of sugar, is either produced in insufficient quantities or the body does not react to it anymore. Insulin is produced by the pancreas. Its function is to help the glucose to reach the cells. When a person has diabetes, the glucose does not reach the cells, but stay in the bloodstream. This causes high blood sugar, which is extremely dangerous in that it can lead to seizures, coma and even death. It also causes damage to the kidneys, nervous system, heart, eyes, skin and feet. If left untreated it can be fatal. Diabetes is serious, and should be treated as such.
Refined sugar is the culprit. When refined sugar is combined with food high in fat the insulin levels become more unstable. Our bodies are not designed to cope with the masses of refined sugar and heated fats we consume.
Ninety percent of the people suffering from type two diabetes are overweight or obese, indicating a direct link between obesity and diabetes. Diabetes cannot be cured, but it can be controlled, and better still, avoided. It is reasonable to assume that by avoiding obesity, you can avoid becoming diabetic.

The keys to good health and normal weight are healthy food choices and a lifestyle of physical activity. Our bodies need to be fed well and exercised. Choose foods that are wholesome and fresh, and avoid heated fats, sugar and refined starches. Implement some sort of an exercise plan into your life, and start living the good life. Get rid of your aches and pains by becoming healthy. Following these simple steps can help to avoid obesity and type two diabetes.
